Gulkarmat Trains Rescuers to Handle Hazardous and Toxic Materials

Jakarta Fire Handling and Rescue (Gulkarmat) Department holds Increased Operation Capacity for Handling Hazardous and Toxic Materials.

This training is given for three days at Jakarta Gulkarmat Department Office's yard

Jakarta Gulkarmat Department's Rescue Operations Assistance Section Head, Edi Sucipto stated, 50 rescuers who represent Gulkarmat Sub-departments participate in this training.

"This training is given for three days at Jakarta Gulkarmat Department Office's yard," he mentioned, Tuesday (11/19).

Gulkarmat Holds Fire Socialization and Training for Pinang Ranti Residents

His side expects it can developing their skills in saving people and handling hazardous and toxic materials. Especially in using the equipment because they need special skill in using it.

"As the rescuers, they need to understand about codes and types of hazardous and toxic materials. It helps them in handling their job and understanding the risk," he explained.

In this training, participants will learn about characteristic of hazardous and toxic materials and how to identify the danger of toxic waste. Moreover, participants are also taught about toxic and hazardous materials symbols and labels.

"Besides, we also remind them to implement SoP for rescuing and handling hazardous and toxic materials in accordance with Jakarta Gulkarmat Department's SoP," he stated.
